New year, new habits

The end of 2024 really kick started my need to chase the best version of myself. I’ve spend the last year on the same things as the year before, meaning I'm essentially in the exact same place as I was a year ago. This got me thinking a lot about what I want to be doing in a year from now.
I know what I want to be doing in 8-10 years. If I dream really big I want my own platform, financial freedom, a loving partner, my own family and my dream house. But I also know that I won’t get there by laying in my bed watching TikTok og Gossip Girl all day. I need to take action and change my mindset. Before I can accomplish any of my dreams I need to work with the way I think.
So this next year i’ve set a few goals for myself:
Read a book each month of the year
Eat better, quite unhealthy snacks
Be more aware of the way I spend money, budget
And ofc write on my blog each week
I know these things will help me come closer to the kind of person I want to become. But I do also know that I will need a stronger and more open mindset to accomplish these goals. Whenever I wanna open tiktok, eat fast food or buy new clothes, I’m going to ask myself “will this bring be closer to the person I wanna become?”. The answer is most likely no and I will become aware of my bad habits. becoming aware of my bad habits will help me to quite them, just like making the habits I want visible will help be achieve them.
For example i’m gonna keep a bottle of water near me at all times to I remind myself that I need to drink 2 liters every day. I will lay a book near my bed so im more likely to pick it up and start reading before bedtime.
Making the habits I want more visible I know there’s a higher chance i’ll be doing them. I might not read every single night or drink exactly 2 litters every day, but I know there’s a higher chance I will be doing them when I physically can’t help to see them.
Another habit I wanna create for myself is using the 5 second rule whenever it makes sense. Lately ive been struggling to get up early, therefore Im gonna start getting up when my alarm rings for at least five seconds, 1…2…3…4…5, then i’ll ask myself “do I need to sleep more?”, if I decide to get up im gonna put on clothes immediately. This methode can also be used for other chores or things you want done, don’t wanna clean your room? fine, but do it for 5 seconds first. Don’t wanna go for a walk because it’s cold? finde, but put on your shoes and jacket for 5 second first.
All these methods im going to implement in my daily routine i’ve found in James Clears book Atomic Habits. if you’re interested in learning more about yourself and the way to better yourself through habits is to definitely recommend the book, or even just downloading his app Atoms.
The four goals i’ve set for myself is just the start, I hope to add many more new habits into my life over the next year so that I can look back and be happy with the results. As so many smart people say, you won’t reach your goal by simply setting the goal, you’ll reach it when you’ve become the kind of person who has reached it.
So it’s a new year and im still gonna be me, just with a bunch og new habits.
